An Anthony Bourdain Memorial Book Is Coming This Spring

The book was originally made for Bourdain’s daughter

A new book memorializing the late Anthony Bourdain is set to be released this spring. Named Anthony Bourdain Remembered, it will showcase memories and anecdotes of the beloved chef. It looks to be more a photo compendium in remembrance of Bourdain (rather than a novel), interspersed with comments from some of his prominent fans such as Barack Obama, José Andrés, Jill Filipovic, and Eric Ripert. Bourdain’s estate has signed off on the book, too: In fact, the book was initially produced with CNN as a keepsake for his daughter, with the estate later agreeing to publish it more widely via publishing house Ecco. It will be released May 28, and presales have already started for it.

And in other news…

  • The Times digs into Starbucks founder Howard Schultz’s leadership record in other organizations (like when he owned a baseball team) and it seems like he’s pretty capable of self-delusion. Or in their words, he has “idealistic righteousness, combined with obvious conviction about his own abilities and insights”. [NYT]
  • Vegan YouTuber Yovana “Rawvana” Mendoza was caught eating fish on camera; chaos ensues as she’s forced to reveal that she ditched the diet long ago; the diet consisted of not-nutritionally-sound ideas like a 25-day water fast. [Buzzfeed]

  • In one of the weirder corporate partnerships out there, McDonald’s and UberEats worked with La-Z-Boy to make a “luxury” sofa with a built-in chiller and light-up phone chargers. Mercifully, there’s only one in existence for whoever wants a couch emblazoned with fast-food logos. [Food & Wine]
